Lot Essay

The original LM1 was a result of MB&F’s Max Büsser reimagining what a 19th-century timekeeping device would like if it was made in the modern era. Introduced in 2011, the timepiece’s most striking feature has been the openworked balance bridge, with its sharply defined angles, echoed the girders and crossbeams of industrial structures showcased at the famous World’s Fairs of that era.

While the LM1 was made mostly in precious metals, for the final edition before it was discontinued, in 2017 MB&F produced 18 pieces in stainless steel with a rich chocolate brown dial. The movement was developed specifically for MB&F by Jean-François Mojon and Kari Voutilainen.
