Lot Essay

The Patek Philippe Neptune Ref. 5085 was made between 1998 and 2005, initially in stainless steel with a bracelet before being rolled out in 18k yellow gold. Although the gold references were made in very limited quantities. This reference was part of the Neptune family that was launched in the last years of the previous century.

If the dial looks familiar, it’s only because the watch runs the same micro-rotor movement (Cal. 240 PS IRM C L U) seen on the more popular Nautilus Ref. 5712. So it was natural that the Ref. 5712 (introduced in 2006) would inherit the same dial layout. With its turn-of-the-century design aesthetic and slim build, the Ref. 5085 can effortlessly go from the board room to the bar.

Given the frenzy around steel sports watches from Patek Philippe in recent years, it's only a matter of time before demand for the Ref. 5085/1A surges.
