PATEK PHILIPPE, REF. 1579J, A RARE GOLD MANUAL-WINDING CHRONGRAPH
The present timepiece is an appealing example of Patek Philippe's celebrated reference 1579, which was introduced in 1943. For a watch made in the 1940s, this chronograph was oversized (at 36 mm.) and featured unusual “spider lugs” because of their resemblance to a spider's legs.
Easily distinguishable from other Patek Philippe chronograph wristwatches of the era, the Ref. 1579 is a veritable classic in the Geneva’s brand line-up of chronographs

OVERALL CONDITION: The watch is appealing, in good condition for its age with good case proportion and a washed dial in relatively good condition.
CASE: The case is in good condition for its age. Polished. The bezel has a good curve and shape. All four lugs are well balanced, but have been rounded with time and polishing. A gold hallmark is visible on the side of the case between 10 and 11. It is clear and deep.
DIAL: The dial is washed. It is original, but washed either due to oxidation, or stain and as a result it has been restored. Vertical lines are visible when chasing the light with a loupe during the inspection. The signature is still clear and ‘Geneve’ retained its accent. Some loss to the black enamel scale at 2 o’clock.
MOVEMENT: The movement is nice clean and original.
BUCKLE: Patek Philippe gold pin buckle
