Lot Essay

Patek Philippe first introduced the reference 5050 perpetual calendar only in yellow gold in 1993. Back then, it was the first Patek Philippe perpetual calendar with a retrograde date display. Two years later, the reference was also available in white gold, pink gold, and platinum. Though only one colour, opaline grey, was available, customers could choose between indexes or Roman numerals. It is believed that only around 30 examples were made in pink gold, white gold and platinum with Roman numeral dials.
