Lot Essay

The Reference 5125 W125 was a limited edition wristwatch produced in 2003 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the relationship between retailer Wempe and Patek Philippe. The legend "Wempe" is embossed on the dial in silver and engraved on the caseback. Only 475 examples of this model were produced - 125 each in rose, white, and yellow gold and a further 100 in platinum.

The watch’s design inspiration – with digital displays for the month, day of the week, and date - recalls Patek classics like the Ref. 3448 and 3450 although this watch is an annual calendar and not a perpetual calendar. The Calatrava case has a smooth bezel and a very modest 36.5-mm-case width. The present watch is number 56 out of 125.
