Lot Essay

Unlike a perpetual calendar which requires no manual adjusting to keep correct time and date, the annual calendar complication needs one correction a year when February turns into March. This complication was introduced by Patek Philippe with the reference 5035 in 1996.

Reference 5146 replaced the Ref. 5035 in 2005. Quintessentially Patek, this reference has the classical good looks that we have come to associate with Patek's complicated watches. It featured a moon phases display instead of the 24 hour indication at 6 o’ clock, a power reserve indicator is placed at 12 o' clock in an effort to balance the dial. The watch is also 2 mm larger in diameter at 39mm than the original 5035.

In January 2021, Patek Philippe announced that they would be discontinuing the Ref. 5035 in all variants.
