Lot Essay

Originally launched in 1977, the Rolex Oysterquartz is the first Rolex to bear a sapphire crystal. This Oysterquartz Day-Date in full 18K yellow gold is just one of the approximately 25,000 Rolex Oysterquartz watches ever produced. The watch features a 36-mm. case with a fluted bezel and a traditional champagne dial. At 12 o'clock is a day aperture while at 3 is a magnified date window.

Further adding to its rarity and appeal, this watch is double stamped with a red Crown Khanjar symbol visible at 9 o'clock position and an additional red Crown Khanjar stamp is on the case back. Bearing the royal crest of the ruling family of Oman, this timepiece is one of those commissioned by Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said, the former sultan of Oman. Flowing seamlessly from the case is a yellow gold bracelet with satin-brushed outer links and polished centre links. This timepiece is equipped with the Rolex in-house quartz calibre 5055.
