Lot Essay

The Cosmograph Daytona, introduced in 1963, was initially engineered to meet the demand for reliability and precision of racing drivers. A special edition, was created in 2002 as an allusion to the legendary Daytona Beach speed races, nicknamed Beach possibly because of its playful looks.

This model was available in four colors: green, blue, pink and yellow with dials made of turquoise, green chalcedony as well as yellow and pink mother-of-pearl and came with lizard straps matching the dial colour. These watches truly emphasizes Rolex's ability to display signs of eccentricity, while staying true to its origins.

Established as an icon in the watch-making universe, this legendary chronograph, while continuing to be an unparalleled source of fascination for connoisseurs of fine horology, remains one of the most collectible modern versions of the Daytona.
