Lot Essay

The reference 116520 is an important milestone in the history of the modern Rolex Daytona, it was the first model to run the brand’s inhouse automatic chronograph movement, the Caliber 4130.

The watch replaced the Ref. 16520, the first automatic Daytona chronograph, which was powered by the Zenith-derived Cal. 4030. Rolex produced the Ref. 116520 from 2000 to 2016 before it was replaced by the Ref. 116500LN with the Cerachrom bezel.
