Amongst the most highly coveted timepieces, the Rolex Daytona has established itself as a true icon within the world of watch collecting. From its origination, the model has encountered a multitude of variations from dials to cases and movements, all illustrating the incessant quest for innovations of Rolex, while staying true to its heritage.
Part of the most appreciated wristwatches, chronographs such as the present reference are cherished by collectors due to their rarified nature. With a very well preserved stainless steel case, with well-defined proportions and edges, the present wristwatch can be considered as a very attractive and rare example of the reference 6265 with black dial. The dial layout as well as the early serial number make it a coveted example for collectors.
Reference 6265 Launched in 1969, the Rolex reference 6265 was unveiled alongside the reference 6263, and manufactured in steel, 18k and 14k gold. Equipped with the caliber 727 beating to 21,600 alternations per hour, the chronographs were fitted with screw-down push buttons and guaranteed waterproof, which lead to the “Oyster” script to be featured on their dials.
