Lot Essay

The British Ministry of Defence has had a long history with Rolex and the Military Submariner (MilSub) Ref. 5513 produced in the 1970s is among the most sought-after vintage Rolex timepieces today.
It is believed that only a hundred examples of this Rolex Explorer II Reference 216570 white dial were made for soldiers serving in the elite British Special Air Services (SAS) regiment.
Commissioned in 2012, the present example features the regimental motto “Who Dares Wins” on the caseband and an engraving of the regimental heraldry (a dagger with wings) and the soldier’s initial and a unique serial number. The watches were sold by Rolex London, as mentioned in the guarantee card.
