Lot Essay

The present reference 18238 is a rare and extremely well-preserved example of a Rolex Day-Date model supplied to the United Arab Emirates armed forces, the champagne dial featuring their emblem which consists of a golden falcon, the UAE flag, and seven stars representing the federation of seven emirates.

There are at least three different logos of the "Emirate Crest" known. The emblem with a silver eagle and silver stars was made for the United Arab Emirates police, the present example with golden eagle and golden stars for the armed forces. The first version for the army has four smaller stars and a larger one towards to the center of the dial. Furthermore, the color of the Eagle and the Signature has been changed slightly over the years.
