Lot Essay

When the reference 1018 came into production around 1960, it was fitted with a slightly larger case than its steel siblings in the vintage Oyster Perpetual family. It remained in production until around 1988. Despite its 28 year lifespan, this reference was produced in small numbers. Fitted with a very rare ‘Serpico y Laino’ dial, this watch was clearly sold from the Venezuelan dealer that could be found in Caracas. During the 50s and 60s Serpico y Laino sold some of the most special pieces by Rolex and Patek Philippe, occasionally brandishing the dials with their name.
