Lot Essay

Rolex launched the Oysterquartz movements in 1977 and was equipped with chronometer-rated Cal. 5035 quartz movement. The thick tonneau case and integrated bracelet are very much in-line with the luxury sports watch aesthetic pioneered by the Nautilus and the Royal Oak. The Oysterquartz models were produced between 1977 and 2001.

The present watch’s dial carries a print crest of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. Made as a special order for governments or prominent royals to mark important events or milestones, these “Arab logo dial” timepieces were never available for public consumption in retail stores.
