Lot Essay

Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak Offshore Juan Pablo Montoya is a striking tribute to the world of Formula 1 racing. Created in collaboration with F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya, this unique timepiece incorporates cutting-edge design inspired by motorsport engineering.
The octagonal bezel and case sides feature carbon fibre inserts, echoing the lightweight materials used in race cars. Unlike the traditional Royal Oak Offshore, the screws on the removable bezel are shaped like cylinder head screws, while the screw-in titanium crown is modeled after a wheel nut. The chronograph pushers resemble cooling flaps, and the rotor evokes the design of a clutch disc – each element reflecting the technical language of the track.
Completing the look is a silver “tapisserie” dial, reminiscent of the checkered flag which marks victory at the finish line. This model is a fusion of fine watchmaking and automotive innovation, crafted for collectors who appreciate performance-driven design.
