Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Audemars Piguet, watch no. 26'518 with cal. 17SVFQ movement, platinum and gold case, finely striped dial, black enamel indexes, was sold in 1924 to Wittnauer, their agent in New York. The present case, no. 28'518, was exchanged against the original case no. 26'518 at a later date. Consequently, Audemars Piguet will not issue an Extract from the Archives or Certificate.

This watch represents one of the great classic models of Audemars Piguet – a perpetual calendar and moon phases with “extra flat” movement, retailed by the celebrated house Tiffany & Co.

The proportions of the rare two-tone platinum and gold case and the supremely beautiful dial combined create a look both bold and elegant, a perfect creation of the Art Deco period.
