In 1953, the first Fifty Fathoms watch was released, a divers' watch that preceded that of Rolex’s Submariner which debuted later in 1954. Beginning with the French Combat Diving School who helped with the design elements with their know-how of actual diving requirements, it was immediately favored by divers and soon deemed ready for military use. These watches included a large and legible bezel that could time initial descent, luminous markings to see underwater, and of course the case was waterproof to great depths.

Throughout the years, the model was adapted for use by the general population. Evolving through the decades, the present reference was launched in 2008 as the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Flyback Chronograph Speed Command. It was designed as a race version of the iconic Blancpain diving wristwatch and crafted in a DLC-coated stainless steel case, the automatic F185 calibre with Frederic Piguet base.

Offered in excellent overall condition, the present model is sold with its accessories and International Warranty card dated November 2016.
