The present ref. 5177 is preserved in very good condition and features an engine-turned silvered gold dial with Breguet Arabic numerals and secret signature to the right and left side of its numeral 12. The fluted case in typical Breguet tradition gives the timepiece an antique look, as if it were a pocket watch from the days of the firm’s founder.

The movement, calibre 777Q, is a modern interpretation of classic watchmaking, its traditionally decorated rotor in white gold corresponds to the character of Breguet timepieces. The modern component is hidden in the details, such as silicon components, among others for the hairspring, the escape wheel and the escapement. These give the timepiece as a whole an amagnetic quality and also help to ensure that the movement runs smoothly with less lubrication

Abraham-Louis Breguet is considered the forefather of modern watchmaking. Most of the complications still in use today were pioneered or perfected starting from crude previous effort by this genius watchmaker. The spirit of Breguet lives on in the modern creations of the company that bears his name, which after more than two and a half centuries is still regarded as one of the most distinguished watchmaking brands.
