Lot Essay

The present watch is number 136 of a limited series of 1860 examples of this L.U.C. model.

The simple classic styling and understated elegance of this limited edition Chopard is enhanced by the meticulous workmanship and ingenuity of the highly technical movement. A very attractive and timeless mid-century aesthetic is given by the satiné silvered dial with applied gold dart indexes and Dauphine hands.

The L.U.C 1860, named after the initials of the firm’s founder, Louis-Ulysse Chopard, features the in-house Chopard certified chronometer movement caliber 4.96 which beats at 28,800 vph. It has a system of twin stacked barrels which provides a longer than average power reserve of approximately 65 hours and a gold micro-rotor allowing for a thinner movement. The movement is displayed through the glazed back so that the quality of finish can be fully appreciated.
