Lot Essay

In 2015, Christophe Claret debuted the Aventicum paying homage to the ancient Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius. Even with its “saltarellotime display, the focus of the Aventicum lies in its use of a miniature Mirascope (two concave shaped mirrors, that when facing each other, creates an optical illusion). The subject matter of this optical illusion is a miniature solid gold bust of the famous emperor, which is positioned below the top mirror, giving the bust the effect that its floating on top of the crystal. Powered by the Christophe Claret manufacture movement caliber AVE15.
