De Grisogono was founded by Fawaz Gruosi in 1993 in Geneva. The brand became famous for its use of the hitherto neglected black diamond into its jewellery and accessories range.

The Instrumento Doppio was launched in 2002 amidst much anticipation. Described by the company as ‘One style, two faces’ it has an ingenious pivoting system that displays on one side a chronograph with 12-hour and 30-minute functions and a large date at 12 o’clock. By unlocking a small wheel on the case at 12 o’clock, the case swivels to show the dial for a second time zone with hours and minutes and visible rotor. Specially designed, the movement consists of two modules, both working from the same modified single barrel movement.

A particular feature is that the hands pass through the rotor so that the movement can wind without interruption.

The Instrumento Doppio was made in a Limited Edition of 500 pieces in stainless steel and 18K yellow, red and white gold.
