Lot Essay

A direct descendant of the Emperor Napoléon, Count Jérome de Witt wished to create a brand which would give birth to astonishing creative timepieces while respecting watchmaking tradition as well as his values for excellence, nobility, family and passion.

The Twenty-8-Eight collection is a tribute to Jérôme de Witt’s illustrious ancestor, Napoleon Bonaparte, proclaimed “Emperor of the French” by the senate on 28 Floréal of the French Republican calendar. It expresses the creativity and the high quality of finishing of DeWitt watches. The Twenty-8-Eight is inspired by Art Deco architecture and the radiator grills of vintage cars, two worlds which are the passion of the founder of the DeWitt manufacture.

Housed in a 43 mm. case made in titanium, it remains instantly recognizable and true to DeWitt’s strong DNA with the redesigned lugs and discrete imperial columns displayed on its sides.

The DeWitt Manufacture was founded in 2003 by Count Jérôme de Witt with the aim to create handcrafted exceptional and innovative Master Complications. Housing all traditional watchmaking activities, from the conception of horological innovations by engineers and designers to the production of every hand-finished component of the movement by master watchmakers, it also masters the extremely complex know-how for manufacturing dials in-house, relaying on a team of specialists such as enamellers, electrotypers, setters and others.
