This magnificent timepiece is distinguished by the nephrite case with arched top, the upper section with an applied two-colour gold bow with suspended ribbon-tied laurel-leaf swags and festoons and a ring fastened to the seed-pearl-set bezel. The corners are set with cabochon rubies, a silver gilt hinged strut to the back, both marked with Michael Perchins’ workmaster marks.

Founded in 1842, Fabergé has been the most revered name in jewellery ever since Peter Carl Fabergé became official goldsmith to the Russian Imperial Court; the house created exquisite jewels and objects, including the legendary series of lavish and ingenious Imperial Easter Eggs.

The present desk timepiece was made under the supervision of Michael Perchin, one of the leading workmasters and foremost artists of Fabergé. Famous for his contribution to the creation of the Imperial Easter eggs, his trademark styles are often considered Neo-Rococo and Renaissance. Michael Perchin is also known for the high quality of his enamelling, chasing of gold mounts, and use of vari-coloured gold.
