FIX WATCH CO., GOLD MINUTE REPEATING FULL CALENDAR POCKET WATCH
Fix Watch Co. was founded by the renowned Charles Barbezat-Baillot (1847-1938) to supply high quality timepieces to the Spanish jewellery and watch retailer El Trust in Madrid.
The present watch is distinguished by its unusual, well-balanced dial layout with two oversized subsidiary dials for the moon phases and date and central apertures for the day and month indications,
It is furthermore fitted with the centrifugal force regulator for the repeating mechanism patented by the manufacturer in 1889, Swiss patent 334, for improvements to the construction of the mechanisms of repetition for pocket watches of all sizes. The invention won several awards, notably at the Swiss National Exhibition in Geneva in 1896 and the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900.

A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The dial with a small and faded hairline to edge at 7, only visible when the crystal is removed, otherwise nice and intact. The case is a bit rubbed to the edges of the covers, the bow is possibly a later replacement as gilt metal, otherwise in generally good overall condition. The hinges are lose. The watch is in good overall condition with age-related traces of wear including minor scratches. The movement is in working order at the time of cataloguing, all functions are working, minute repeating is well-tuned and with a nice, clear sound. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. A service is recommended.
