Lot Essay

Fix Watch Co. was founded by the renowned Charles Barbezat-Baillot (1847-1938) to supply high quality timepieces to the Spanish jewellery and watch retailer El Trust in Madrid.

The present watch is distinguished by its unusual, well-balanced dial layout with two oversized subsidiary dials for the moon phases and date and central apertures for the day and month indications,

It is furthermore fitted with the centrifugal force regulator for the repeating mechanism patented by the manufacturer in 1889, Swiss patent 334, for improvements to the construction of the mechanisms of repetition for pocket watches of all sizes. The invention won several awards, notably at the Swiss National Exhibition in Geneva in 1896 and the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1900.
