Lot Essay

The present watch is fitted with a detached lever (or ratchet tooth lever) escapement, invented around 1756 by the English watchmaker Thomas Mudge, a forerunner to the escapements still in use today.

Of high quality, it features diamonds set in gold chatons and a diamond endstone instead of the commonly used rubies.
