Lot Essay

Known as Jack Heuer’s favourite model, the reference 1158 was launched in 1969. It is deeply linked with the Ferrari Formula 1 team and the very best drivers of the era. In fact, Heuer signed a partnership with Ferrari in 1971 which lasted until 1979. As part of the sponsorship agreement celebrated drivers such as Niki Lauda, Clay Regazzoni, Jacky lckx and Mario Andretti were given a ref. 1158, earning the model the nickname “Ferrari Heuer”.

The present example is part of the second version of the reference 1158 CHN, featuring a champagne dial with black registers and a white date disc with black numerals.

For references 1158 CHN presented by Jack Heuer to the race car drivers Mike Hailwood and Ronnie Peterson see Time to Race by Cesare Maria Mannucci - John Goldberger, pp. 155 & 263.
