Lot Essay

The present timepiece is a well-preserved example of a 1950s wristwatch with "floating" dial. Its movement and cases were made by Jaeger-LeCoultre, famous Swiss watch manufacturer and supplier of high quality movements to the world’s most distinguished jewelers and retailers.

The case containing movement, dial and hands is located in the centre of a sapphire crystal. The winding crown has been repositioned from the side of the case towards the back, making the dial appear to be "floating" in the centre of the watch.
