Lot Essay

Launched in 2011, the Duomètre à Quantième Lunaire embodies several of the firm’s horological achievements, notably the time display with a jumping seconds hand showing 1/6ths of a second increments. However, the true genius of this watch lies within the Dual-Wing movement concept, featuring two independent power supplies: one entirely dedicated to creating a perfect timing foundation regulated by escapement and balance, the other solely for the display of time, hour, minute and seconds hands, as well as date and the age of the moon for the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Both are synchronized through the jumping seconds hand mechanism driven by the escapement.

The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 381 consists of 369 parts and is without a doubt a true masterpiece of micromechanics. Associated with the 'Dual-Wing' concept and the jumping seconds, it ensures accuracy to the nearest 1/6ths second when setting the timepiece. In addition, the mechanism is equipped with a zero-reset function which simplifies the synchronization of the watch with a time signal. When the crown is pulled, the seconds hand automatically jumps to the 12 o'clock or zero position.
