The present Excellence Le Régulateur represents the remarkable collaboration between Louis Erard and Vianney Halter, one of the most celebrated and influential independent watchmakers of contemporary horology.
Halter first came to international prominence in 1998 with the Antiqua perpetual calendar, a watch whose highly distinctive retro-futuristic aesthetic challenged established conventions of traditional watch design. Together with the subsequent Classic and Trio, the Antiqua established an unmistakable design language that has become synonymous with Halter’s work.
For the present collaboration, this instantly recognizable aesthetic was applied to Louis Erard’s signature regulator display. The two-level dial, alternating polished and sandblasted surfaces, features the characteristic numerals and hands associated with Halter’s own creations, while the notched crown recalls the rivet-studded crowns of the Antiqua, Classic and Trio.
Introduced in 2020 and limited to only 178 pieces, the model sold out within hours of its release, illustrating the considerable enthusiasm surrounding the collaboration.
Combining Louis Erard’s traditional regulator format with the unmistakable design codes of Vianney Halter, the present watch provides collectors with a fascinating example of contemporary independent watchmaking and a distinctive expression of one of modern horology’s most original creative minds.
