Lot Essay

The present watch is one of the exceedingly few examples of Omega’s super rare reference OU 2087 to appear in public to date, distinguished by the unusual bezel with Arabic numerals and a charismatic multi-tone dial featuring a rare pulsation scale, exhibiting only the patina of age without any signs of cosmetic intervention. Its for the period large size 37 mm. case is the likewise rare pink gold variant as opposed to the better known steel version. It is preserved in very good overall condition for its age.

The charismatic ref. 2087 chronograph inspired Omega to launch a reproduction in 2003, the so-called "Officer's Watch", watch number 3 from the Museum Collection.

The model is described and illustrated in Omega - A Journey Through Time by Marco Richon, p. 533, the re-edition on p. 499.
