The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Movement: The movement is in working order at the time of cataloguing, consistent with the age of the watch. The movement has possibly been refinished / re-rhodiumed at some time in the past, some small scratches generally to the bridges visible under magnification. A service is strongly recommended.
Dial: The dial is later but only by perhaps 10 years, it has been completely cleaned in the past but still exhibits raised hard enamel numerals and scales but with signs of restoration to the signature and scales, two prominent scratches between 12 and the signature and a further scratch on the signature itself. Hands replaced.
Case: The case was changed by Patek Philippe during a service in their workshops as confirmed by the Extract from the Archives, research shows the present case was delivered to Patek Philippe by Wenger in 1949. The bezel does not have the last three digits of the case number underneath. Case has been professionally cleaned by J.P. Hagmann, generally good appearance with only very minor light surface scratching and some dents to the bezel edges. Crystal very scratched.
Overall condition: Attractive but in need of a servicing.
