Lot Essay

Purchased by the present owner at Wempe in London in 2016, this ref. 5200 is preserved in very good overall condition and sold with the full set of accessories.

The Gondolo 8-Days, Date & Day Indication model was introduced at the 2013 Basel Fair. It was available exclusively in white gold either with a silvered dial (ref. 5200G-010) or the blue version (ref. 5200G-001). The anatomically shaped rectangular case is reminiscent of the firm’s Art Deco timepieces.

The new 28-20 REC 8J calibre was specifically built for the reference, featuring twin inline barrels for an 8-days or 192 hours power reserve, Patek Philippe’s Spiromox balance spring and Pulsomax escapement to reduce friction and provide higher accuracy over time.

The subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock displays also the date indicated by a red-tipped hand and the day through a small aperture. Day and date instantaneously jump at midnight.
