Lot Essay

According to the Archives of Piaget, the present ref. 963 was manufactured in 1963.

The present timepiece is a fine example of a "couteau" dress watch, refering to the ultra thin case resembling a knife's edge. It was made by Piaget for Cartier, fitted with the slim cal. 9P movement.

Launched in 1957, the legendary 9P movemen is an ultra-thin hand-wound mechanical movement with a thickness of only 2 mm. It features hour and minute functions and epitomizes the manufacturer's finishes with the vertical Côtes de Genève, the circular-grained mainplate, the beveled and hand-drawn bridges with blued screws.
