This attractive example of a 1970s GMT-Master in gold is preserved in very good overall condition.

The dial features the special applied luminous dot, baton and dagger numerals with stylish raised gold surround. This particular type, regardless of its colour, is nicknamed "bicchierini" by Italian watch collectors, which translates as "small glasses". Over the years, the luminous material to the numerals has taken a subtle cream colour, beautifully harmonizing with the brown dial.

The case has preserved strong proportions, with clear hallmarks underneath the lugs and crisp milling to the case back. The copper-coloured bezel with gold numerals was exclusively available for the full gold examples.

Reference 1675
Following the success of the original GMT-Master reference 6542 in 1954, Rolex introduced reference 1675 only five years later. It remained in production until 1980.

The yellow gold version of reference 1675 originally came without crown guards, which were only introduced in 1967 to match their stainless steel counterparts. Thereafter the reference was also available in stainless steel.
