The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Movement: The movement is ticking at the time of cataloguing; however, a service is recommended. Christie’s does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
Case: In good condition with scratches and dents. The case back shows scratches and signs of handling on the lugs. The watch was polished. The bezel is in good condition. The inside of the case back is stamped '6605' and '11.57' indicating its production in the 1957.
Dial: The dial has yellowed throughout and especially around the Rolex signature. The luminous plots at the hour markers have all partially deteriorated and darkened with age. The dial has some intermittent spotting throughout. The hands and hour markers have developed a patina. The hour hand appears to have been relumed. The luminous material in the minute hand has darkened, especially at 6. The date wheel alternated between black and red.
Bracelet: The bracelet is loose with scratches, and the clasp has been polished.
Overall condition: Good for its age.
