Lot Essay

The reference 1675 offered here for sale is a superb specimen of this ultra-rare series, preserved in excellent overall condition. The glossy dial is in original, unrestored condition, the well-preserved, slightly creamy luminous accents are intact and in a shade perfectly matching the luminescence of the hands. Featuring the typical characteristics of a rare Type C dial with its unusual wide “SWISS T 25” printing across a total of five minute marking to the bottom of the dial. Due to their unique characteristics developed over time, glossy dials are among the most desirable and beautiful dials ever to be found in vintage Rolex timepieces, highly sought-after by collectors and often replaced during services.

The full case has not been subject to careless polishing and features well-defined proportions and edges. Enhanced by the early crown guards, which strongly resemble the eagle’s beak of a 5512, yet are not too similar. It can be assumed that it remained in production only for a very short period of time until 1962 and afterwards been replaced by the specimens with modern crown guards known today.

The original Rolex Oyster riveted expanding bracelet of 1965 and the uniformly bleached bezel further enhance the overall look of the watch.

The present timepiece represents an extremely rare opportunity for collectors to acquire an important example of an iconic reference of the Rolex manufacture.
