Rolex has been producing Arabic dials from as early as the 1950s (to develop the needs of the Middle Eastern market), this was usually only done by special request and not by mainstream production. A symbol of luxury and prestige, these watches were often presented by the rulers as gifts or token of esteem.
In most cases, these dials are seen on the Rolex Day-Date. In this case it is presented on a Rolex Date reference 1500 which is the first example seen in the public auction market to this date with this special configuration.
Furthermore, the dial of the present watch impresses with its non-restored condition and very unusual patern.
