Lot Essay

An astrolabe is an instrument used to indicate the positions of the sun, moon, and stars as seen from Earth. The Astrolabium Galileo Galilei, launched in 1985, is the only astrolabe watch designed to be worn on the wrist and provides the wearer with several accurate astronomical indications. These include the display of local and solar time, the orbits and eclipses of the sun and moon, and the positions of several major stars. This timepiece is part of Ulysse Nardin's Astronomical Trilogy, which consists of the Astrolabium Galileo Galilei, the Planetarium Copernicus, and the Tellurium Johannes Kepler models.
