Lot Essay

Andy Warhol was the first artist to design a watch for Movado's "Artist's Collection," a groundbreaking initiative that invited both established and promising artists to reinterpret the brand's iconic Museum dial through their own creative lenses. Released shortly after his untimely death in February 1987, the "Times 5" represents Warhol's first watch design and also one of his last works. The watch features five dials, each depicting a different New York City scene. As both a tribute to Warhol's enduring legacy and a rare collectible from Movado's most celebrated collaboration, this timepiece holds a unique place in horological and art historical circles alike.
