Lot Essay

Beautiful and opulent with "old world" charm, the following C.H. Meylan ultra-thin pocket watch made for Tiffany & Co. is a remarkable and lavish piece of American history. The timepiece belonged to Mr. James Taylor Gordon who was presumably gifted this watch by his mother on the 19th of March, 1931, such as engraved on the inside caseback of the watch along with the matching embossed date on the presentation box.

This open-face watch is less than 7 mm. thin and is manufactured in platinum with diamond settings on the case, hands, and applied Roman numerals. What is seldom seen and incredible is that the winding/setting crown is a pearl. Furthermore, its original Tiffany & Co. platinum chain also has smaller pearls in it. Completing this timepiece is a tastefully "spade-shaped" bow which adds a striking look. This special Tiffany & Co. pocket watch is an object of beauty and importance, and represents an incredible value to the astute and determined collector.
