Lot Essay

The present Omega Speedmaster Professional "Missions Apollo 9" may be one of the most exciting and impressive Speedmasters to own. Already a coveted, limited edition watch in well-preserved condition, this watch is further enhanced as it is signed in numerous places by Rusty Schweickart, one of the three men on the Apollo 9 Mission.

Schweickart was the Lunar Module Pilot on this mission which was the first crewed flight test of the lunar module. He performed the first in-space test of the portable life support system used by the Apollo astronauts who walked on the Moon. As backup commander of the first crewed Skylab mission in 1973, he was responsible for developing the hardware and procedures used by the first crew to perform critical in-flight repairs of the Skylab station.

Additionally the watch comes "full set" with every accessory individually signed by Schweickart, making this incredible timepiece a "must have" for the passionate collector of Speedmaster and space watches.
