With particular interest, the present lot was gifted to the former U.S. Ambassador to Oman upon his retirement in the early 2000’s. The Sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos Bin Said al-Said, had waited until his retirement to personally give him the present timepiece in accordance with the United States State Department Regulations. Sitting Ambassadors were not allowed to receive gifts from the heads of state, so as a result the Sultan happily waited until the Ambassador’s term was finished to personally hand him the present lot.
