The present watch is a limited edition of 150 examples made in 1997 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Cartier by Louis-Francois Cartier.
The model is a re-edition of Cartier's famous "Driver's" wristwatch launched in the early 1930s and fitted with a LeCoultre movement. The curved case was designed to be worn on the side of the wrist to facilitate the reading of time while holding the steering wheel of a car.
