A bold and technically highly innovative timepiece with ‘space age’ looks, this retro yet at the same time avant-garde Ventura BMW Sparc FX resulted from a collaboration between Ventura and automobile manufacturer BMW. Made in a limited edition of 2000 pieces cased in sand-blasted stainless steel, its ingenious Swiss made micro-generator hybrid quartz/automatic movement, the Ventura Caliber 99, generates the power for the 'gold-tinted' reverse LCD digital display which has the option for both 12 or 24-hour numerals. The movement has a rotor like an automatic watch, but instead of winding a mainspring it generates power that is stored, giving the watch an excellent power reserve and extremely accurate timekeeping. When not in use, the movement goes into ‘sleep’ mode in order to conserve power, however, the slightest movement brings the dial to life again. The rotor is emblazoned with the BMW badge, as is the time and date setting crown.
