Lot Essay

The present lot, Patek Philippe reference 460 as confirmed by the Extract from the Archives, is an incredibly rare and highly unknown Calatrava timepiece. Delivered on the 25th of November in 1936, the watch features a Georges Croisier case and utilizes a movement from 1929. The 18k yellow gold timepiece measures 28.5mm and has a lovely, subtle, stepped bezel. The sector dial is mirrored with applied gold 3,9, 12, and stick hour markers. Further, the present lot incorporates gold plume-style watch hands, a wonderful feature that is seldom seen in Patek Philippe timepieces. Subsidiary running seconds are present at 6 o’clock, indicated by a blued-steel hand. The present reference 460 is a tremendous opportunity to own an exceptionally rare and covetable, early Patek Philippe wristwatch.
