The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Oil on panel. The varnish has discoloured. On closer inspection there is a fine pattern of craquelure. There are historic vertical splits to the panel, which have been filled, most notable to the centre right side. There are a number of associated scattered losses to the paint. There is some bubbling to the paint surface in the upper right corner. The panel is slightly warped. Examination under UV light reveals the aforementioned restoration to the splits of the panel. There is scattered retouching to the sky and clouds and to the green tones of the hills and foliage in particular to the left side. Difficult for further reading due to the murky varnish. Otherwise, the details such as the gold embroidery on the dresses remain vivid and pronounced.
