Lot Essay

The form of this bureau-plat or diplomatica with its slender cabriole legs, executed in kingwood is typical of the distinctive and refined output of the Genoese 18th century furniture makers. Numerouse examples are illustrated in L. Caumont Caimi, L'Ebanisteria Genovese del Settecento, Parma, 1995, notably pp. 120-121, figs. 62, 64, and pp. 136-137 figs. 89-92.
