The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
This large and impressive commode is in good overall condition.
The marble has well repaired breaks and has been inset with steel rods to the underside.
The stamp is to the top of the front left leg, there is also a trace of a stamp to the right leg, but this has been partially obscured by a wooden wedge applied to the top surface to support the marble. It is also struck JME four times.
there are minor chips and repairs to the veneers, including (but not limited to) the rear edge of the rear right leg and to the top of the rear left leg which have been overpainted a little, there are also horizontal joints to the veneers/banding to both indicating old replacements, however, the underlying leg timber to both uprights is visible from the back and has not been broken or repaired.
Possibly some replacements to mounts, the cenral mount to the apron replaced.
The whole has been cleaned and repolished at some time and the present finish is generally pale in colour.
Overall minor shrinkage, cracks and related losses. Evidence of apparently old and inactive woodworm.
Minor marks, knocks chips, scratches and wear throughout consistent with age and use.
In generally good decorative and structural condition and ready to use.
