The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In good overall condition.
The whole has been cleaned and repolished at sometime which has resulted in some loss of definition to the engraving and the present finish is a little faded but is clean and bright. There is probably also some extant reengraving to the flowers but this is not obtrusive.
The mounts apparently original, some probably re-gilt. The marble possibly a 19th century replacement.
Stamped once to the rear right corner.
Slight shrinkage cracking and minor lifting to the veneers, notably there is a vertical crack to the left-hand end panel and two of the lattice/lozenges bordering this are of slightly different colour and may be replaced, one inlaid flower to the opposing end also possibly replaced, although this is not categoric. Three further lozenges accross the joint between the drawers as well as other minor elements of inlay with slight colour discrepencies. The banding to the right-hand end of the bottom drawer is a well matched replacement and is lifting from the bottom edge.
Minor losses and replacements to veneers, especially to the cross-bearers between the drawers, as is usual and there is a section of crossbanding missing to the bottom left corner of the bottom drawer.
Overall minor knocks, chips, scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
In generally good decorative and structural condition and ready to use.
