The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In relatively good overall condition.
One fauteuil and the canape stamped twice with the makers's stamp to the inside backrail. The other fauteuil stamped once with makers name and twice GB.
Redecorated probably in the 19th century when the tapestries were likely repaired and the seats sprung. There is some evidence of further gilding, suggesting the whole suite may have been brightly gilt and then the now white areas of the frames scraped back to create the present finish and varnished. The present decoration re-touched.
The canape has not been sprung, the original three cross bearers to the underside have been replaced with two 20th century steel bearers stretching front to back between the legs. The corner joints to all braced to the inside, some blocks possibly original, some replaced.
Traces of apparently inactive, historic woodworm.
Overall minor knocks, chips, scratches and wear consistent with age and use.
In generally good decorative and structural condition and ready to use.
